A description of the Zargari language, the only genuine Indo-Aryan language still spoken in Iran. Included are two articles. The first one, by Baghbidi, is mainly based on the author’s field work, provididing a brief, but at the same time precise, description of the main characteristics of Zargari phonology, morphology, syntax and lexicon. Additionally, it examines the influences of Azari Turkish and Persian on Zargari, which in some cases distinguish it from other Indo-Aryan languages, such as a tendency towards deaspiration, the existence of the phonemes /ö/ and /ü/, vowel harmony and the syllabic structure CV(CC).The second article, by I. Kalbassi, in Persian, has the following preface:Romano people, the users of this language, live at present in some different parts of Iran such as Meshad, Kuchan and in a village, named "Zargar", near Quazvin. That these people are Iranian, or to which family their language belongs is not yet known. Further research should reveal many yet unknown facts about it. This article will be dealing with only some of the lexical and grammatical peculiarities of this language.Taken together, these two articles give a detailed description of Zargari.
