A study of Dhivehi, the language of the Maldives. It is classified here under "Indian" for two reasons: the Maldives are in the Indian ocean and have had long-standing ties to the mainland, second, the language itself is Indo-Aryan and closely related to Singhalese.

Phonology, morphology, historical developments are discussed in the dissertation, which also includes a section on possible Dravidian influence. The appendices offer a word list and a Dhivehi text.
