Some works by Solomon b. Gabirol, a notable philosopher and poet of medieval Spain. As was customary with other thinkers of that period as well, he composed his poems in Hebrew and wrote prose in Arabic.Accordingly, I offer here a bundle of Hebrew poems (his "Diwan") and an Arabic edition and translation of his major work "The Improvement of the Moral Qualities." To wit: "In order to cultivate his soul, man must necessarily know its peculiarities, study himself as he is, closely examine his character and inclination, habituate himself to the abandonment of whatever is mean, i.e., whatsoever draws him into close contact with the physical and temporal, and aim at the spiritual and the abiding. This effort in itself is blessedness. A man's ability to make such an effort is proof of divine benevolence." (Wiki, see there for more)Please feel free to add more components to this post. It's always good to have multilingual editions.
